This apparatus employs the I type of [Colour fastness to rubbing] of [Tests for colour fastness] in JIS L 0849. It mainly uses to determinate the dyeing fibres.

A test piece of dyed cloth and a piece of white cotton cloth are rubbed together with the tester. The color fastness of the sample is judged by comparing the coloring extent of the white cotton with the gray scale.
